So it does look like the page has been damaged by the owner, my copy looks like this, but if I was to pull on the pages they would end up like in the eBay listing.
I agree that the pages are stuck in pretty badly but not like in the picture.

Agree with Trotter here - it is easily damaged if opened beyond a fairly acute angle. The seller has clearly opened the book to its fullest extent to take the photos.
Thank you Trotter, I understand. Could you post a picture of the recto of your limitation page and how it is stuck ?
Can't really be bothered getting my own copy out, but the limitation leaf looks tipped on, it's not a "binding" issue.

The limitation pages on both my copies are absolutely perfect - nothing like the pictures shown in the prior post. I assume if you tried to open the limitation page and the following page fully apart it would tear away like on the eBay copy. I'd say just don't do that, cos it is glued to it...

I bought the Huddersfield glossary. I thought the price was OK but I have not too many references for it.
I think it was in line with what I paid a couple of years back (I paid £118). Condition of your copy isn't quite as good as mine, probably (but likely not that much in it). A notable difference is that yours is the version with the crest on the front and mine is the one that lacks it.

Thank you for your insights and pictures.
That seems the reason why some copies are in that condition. I bought mine second hand, and the seller came with that binding issue story as well...
Fortunately, my copy is not as bad as the one in the ebay listing, so maybe I can try to glue it nicely (or bring it to a book binder).

Thank you for posting your pics from the New glossary of the dialect of the Huddersfield District. I saw that 2 variants were printed indeed. By the way, it would be so nice if you could share the facsimile dust-jacket you've made for it !
