I have only 2... the black paperback edition from the 2000s (stole money from my dad’s drawer when I was still a jobless student!) and the HC green deluxe edition (after I got my first job and was able to spend on myself). I eventually told my dad and made it up to him many times over. ?
Ooh let's not do that again... yeah? Good that you told him, but you're not a teenager, are you? If you are, then I get it, it's a tough time. But I would prefer to mail you some of my Hobbits than to have you 'borrow' money.
Could you send me your '42 Jacketed Book Club, otherwise I fear I might rob a bank?
Sorry for being a bit late: in total I have 115 Hobbit on my shelves. 55 in Englisch and 60 in German; with a few exceptions all are hardcover.
Only 16 for me (17th and maybe 18th on the way), but some nice ones :
- A&U 1955
- 1961 Puffin
- 1968 Longman 1st and PIR 1st
- 1976 Deluxe Edition
- 1997 Hatchards, limited to 600
- 1999 Deluxe Edition, limited to 2500
- 2004 Deluxe Edition,
- History of the Hobbit boxset
Just a few stalks compared to some of your great forests...

I, alas, have only three: two Ballantine paperbacks and the new Alan Lee hardcover.
This was a great thread idea. Next week we should do the same for Silmarillions.

OK! I counted 27 of you participating in the thread, and the random number generator picked @huan68 - send me a PM so I can get a mailing address for you. This was fun, thanks all!

Ooh, with the new Illustrated Silmarillion being released next week, that's a fine idea...
I own two Silmarillions:
- 1998 illustrated edition, HarperCollins, first printing (my first copy)
- HarperCollins hardback from 2007 I believe (Taniquetil by Tolkien as cover art, fold-out map of Beleriand @ rear) also a first printing for either of them
I wasn't hunting for a first printing, I happened to luck out both times XD (the illustrated one was a gift and I bought the other one myself)
