Peter Harrington has always been on the (very) expensive side. I think he is aimed at a different kind of clientele than most of us.
Take £1000 copy of The Hobbit, put an abysmally chopped down facsimile jacket and ask for $12,500, whilst failing to mention that the crappy jacket is a facsimile. Rare Book Cellar never fails to disappoint. Hopefully no one is stupid enough to buy it.
Edit: When you look close up at the green on the boards, looks to me like it has been painted/stained in places where it is worn.
