If anyone has a copy of the 1996 HarperCollins India paper edition of The Lord of the Rings, can you look at the copyright page and let me know if it mentions whether the text of that edition is that of the 1994-revised text?
Similarly, if anyone has a copy of the three-volume 1996 HarperCollins set of The Lord of the Rings illustrated by Alan Lee, can you look for the same as above, an attribution to the 1994 edition as the source of the text?
I'm working on a stemma/tree of editions, and these two would be fitted in one place or another dependent upon the answers.
Plethoric thanks for any help!

Can confirm that yes the '97 Deluxe LOTR text used the '94 reset edition text.
Don't know about the '96 PB LOTR Lee Illustrated set as I don't have it.

Thank you, Mr. Underhill!
There is a whole pile of editions derived from that 1994 text: a line of 3-volume trade paperbacks (B Format), the 7-volume sets, a line of 1-volume trade paperbacks (most of these with film tie-in covers), and a line of mass market paperbacks (A Format).
I suspect the Alan-Lee illustrated edition of 1996 derives from it, too. The 2002 is derived from the 2001 Collins Modern Classics trade paperback, which itself derives from the 1994 text.
So: almost there!

A correction: the 2002 Lee-illustrated 3-volume LR isn't derived from the 2001 Collins Modern Classics edition; my (now very) scribbled tree led me to that mistake! It also has a '1994' note on the copyright page (in the HMH set) in that it gives the 1994 copyright date for Doug Anderson's 'Note on the Text', although the note was updated for the 2002 edition, as was the text of the edition itself.

No mention of the 1994 edition on the copyright page.
