Most of my August acquisitions were run-of-the-mill newer editions of this and that, but four of them were of "more ancient and rare" provenance--the 2008 Ukrainian Astrolabia Hobbit and Silmarillion, the 2004 Croatian Algoritam Hobbit and Silmarillion, a 1992 Severo-Zapad Russian LOTR and Hobbit set in blue double sleeves (purchased from a Ukrainian seller), and a 2003 Bompiani Italian one-volume LOTR that is going for as much as 1000 € (although on my side of the pond I'm not entirely clear why and I paid far less, although it still wasn't on the discount rack).
I might also note that the recent YouTube video from our esteemed trio of experts on "printings/impressions" versus "editions" was rather interesting. In the modern era, one feature of "repackaging" is also the issuing of new ISBNs when the packaging changes, but not when the presses simply make another run.

The collection has grown quite significantly since my last post. Sadly, will have to stop soon as I have moved in with my partner and despite my best negotiations, this was as much shelf space as I could haggle. A few highlights:
- battered and signed limited edition Wenzel comic with auto (this edition was made me fall in love with Tolkien as a child. Still remember checking in out so many times from the school library. So perhaps why I've put it in the top of my highlights list!)
- a set of first editions lotr picked up at auction for only £65
- Set of history of the hobbit
- lots of nice post 1966 hobbits and a 1961 in the mix. Doubt my budget will enable any pre 1966 hobbits but finding it easy to collection the third edition, so will try and complete the set.
- having lots of fun trying to collect HoME too. An interesting set given the limited print runs for later editions.

If our British Governmetn can haggle after the deals have been made, you can certainly be forgiven for moving the goalposts a little
