I did see that and was tempted. Was it worth the price in your opinion Underhill? Didn't feel comfortable enough as US editions aren't my strength.

No, far too much IMO. book was in fair condition. Missing maps, torn pages, etc…
These prices are just a reality of the market now.
Library bindings of the 1st US Hobbit are still very much sought after, they are extremely hard to find.
Personnaly I love those (I have a third state orange library binding, which i had the chance to find for a decent price, even if some illustrations are missing and some pages are not in good condition).
By the way, most of these library rebinding don't have the maps since they have been removed in the rebinding process. LanceFormation can confirm this

Agree that they are very sought after (by me amongst others) I have some 2nd Library binds but no 1sts and would love to get one at some point. This is one of the more rough ones I've come across.
