Yes it is too expensive... that's for sure. But still a beauty to look at

I bought a better non-restored version of the 2nd impression 18months ago - for $16k....

This price feels way too high. But then again, they've been increasing a lot.

It's semantics, technically it is the original wrapper, it's just had some restoration done to it. Just like a restoration done to a painting, still the original painting with work done on it.

lol, even a 1978 4th/1 with rubbed out writing is on sale at £225 (I bought the £40 which I know I overpaid since it said £8 in pencil on the inside. )

All three listings were removed. Perhaps seller realized what they had?

I (and a few others apparently according to him) contacted him and let him know.

He had no idea their value.

He said he is going to list them with a real aunctioneer because he wants to raise as much as he can for charity.

Gosh now I'm starting to think that the £225 I paid a few months ago for a 1st/4th in library binding (and no endpapers) wasn't too bad...

(TBH I was chuffed to bits to get it)

I bought a 1987 50th Anniversary edition with the short stripe for £26 and a couple of people bid against me, started at £4 (I saw it first )

Blue ink is almost all still present.

Thanks, just what I was looking for, got 3 of these in varying degrees of grey to blue bought for the dustcover.

I'll put it on my 'Several copies have been seen with the first part of each letter on the left hand side of page 234 cropped. One of these copies was a review copy, so this variant may have priority of issue' copy.
