From a consistency standpoint, I really wish The Hobbit and LotR books had "TOLKIEN" on their spines instead of "J.R.R. Tolkien".Miles_Perhour wrote:
The ones i've acquired so far.
Actually I wish they all used "J.R.R. Tolkien" as I prefer that better, and it would help be different from some of the previous B-Format paperbacks (primarily the illustrated editions) which use the same "TOLKIEN" on their spine.

I have not been informed of this, but the difference would appear to be TOLKIEN on the spine for titles edited by Christopher, J.R.R. Tolkien for works that he did not edit.
On the ones I own, it's written "J.R.R. Tolkien" except for "Tales from the perilous realm" and "The nature of Middle-earth". So it seems that even the books edited by Christopher Tolkien can have the name "J.R.R. Tolkien".

That was how it was done in the past, but I was talking about the author names on the new 'signature' paperbacks, which seem to be following the pattern I mentioned.
