The Berkeley Christian Coalition issued a free underground newspaper (later 25c). Two issues had Tolkien on the "cover." Another issue had a cover picture of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, who were interviewed. The paper later became the arts journal Radix which may still be around.

Yes indeed, thanks Dale, these are great to see!
That second cover - is that the same illustration used on some editions of Ready's The Tolkien Relation? (or something else - I feel like I've seen it before...)

Matt, I believe that the Right On! drawing of Tolkien is presumably by a staff artist who was looking at the same photograph of Tolkien that was used on later paperback printings of Ready's deplorable book after its first printing with an amateurish imitation of Barbara Remington's Ballantine design was dropped.

Also reminds me of the cover of Birzer's book J.R.R. Tolkien's Sanctifying Myth (first edition)
