WTB 2006 HarperCollins Unfinished Tales - ISIN 9780261102156

This edition (ISIN 9780261102156) isn't very old. But it seems rather rare, at least from my searching of the usual sites, compared to other HarperCollins JRRT titles done in that style from the same time period. It's the hardcover edition that looks like the attached picture. I'd be WTB if anyone is selling. Whether it's first edition or not isn't terribly important to me. Thanks in advance.

Yeah sadly, I think the last time this book was printed was 2 years ago.

I don’t think there’s been an official declaration from HC that it’s “out of print”, but everything that I can find over the last 2 years has just been used stuff.

Welcome to the site :)

While this book does appear to no longer be available new, HarperCollins printed a ton of them over the last decade or so. I would keep an eye on the second hand market for one to appear.

Thanks for the welcome, it’s nice to see a dedicated site for collectors. I would not consider myself a “serious” collector but I do own quite a few Tolkien books, including several versions of a number of them, so enough to at least qualify I hope!

Yes, the second hand market for this particular item is quite ridiculous at the moment. And invariably the few sellers that have copies look to be those giant warehouse type outfits where you can’t tell if you’ll end up with what you want due to vague item descriptions and either stock photos or none at all. Thanks for the info though; I’ll keep at it!

At any rate: if anyone is willing to sell a copy of this, please message me.

FYI, I have dug into those links you provided, but after looking at the details, those listings actually refer to the 2000 edition, which has slightly different art on the dust cover (it includes runic borders on the top and bottom of the dust jacket). Most of what I have found online on abebooks and biblio etc. refer to that edition.

I had to look a bit to find a first impression...but if impression doesnt matter it shows up for sale regularly.

Impression is not terribly important to me. Can I ask which sites you’d recommend?
