Struggling to understand the price. Is the original 1842 edition particularly scarce?

This was mine. I was shocked when it sold. Had no clue on value since there aren't any closed sales I could find. Sold within the day, guy paid, shipped yesterday. I made sure the buyer knew of the issue on the back of the case. Sadly I think the damage happened from me moving stuff around my house so much due to remodeling. In the process of listing the rest since I decided I don't need multiple copies of the same books in my life (heresy).

Guilty of buying it. I did find a closed sale on £230-£240 a year or so ago and know about another in the same price range. The 'scar' on the back of the case doesnt bother me much....the colouring on the spine looks great which is important to me with this edition. Thanks for the trade?

These don't hit the market that often and people are keen to get them. I had a small hand in facilitating the sale as well

Thank you Mr. Underhill.... an unexpected bonus with this purchase is that it left me with a budget-situation that inspires a few weeks of focusing on gathering my collection in the same sunless room and going through my collection catalog ?

Glad this is going to a good home. I have had this in the back of a bookcase since purchase so the spine is very fresh, no fading. Bummed about the back of the case, no clue how that happened.
