Finally after almost 2 decades of searching. An (essentially) unfaded Inklings!
Apologies for poor photo - DJ is more green in real life.
My mind is blown!

Interestingly, I cannot find a normal first US impression Unfinished Tales around here. I think I gave it to someone else at some point.
Does someone here have a copy of a first and can post a picture of the rear flap? This review copy rear flap differs substantially from what Hammond's Bibliography describes.
Here is a photo of the rear flap of my First printing, seems to be identical in all points
Thanks for the flap pictures. I did a scan of various ebay listings of first impressions that had pictures of the rear flap, and they all look the same as mine.
Findegil, in the Bibliography entry for the first American edition (A17b), p. 235, it says that the list of books on the rear flap include:
As (for example) Mr. Bliss didn't get released until 1982, I assume the bold lines are just an error in the Bibliography entry?
I haven't found any differences between this review copy and the "normal" first impressions, as I pretty much expected. I'll keep looking, but I will assume for now it is the same. As I said, I wanted the announcement ephemera from this listing, so I am still happy.

I have 2 US first printings and the rear flap matches yours. I looked up UT in Hammond’s bibliography and it does indeed differ from what we are seeing. I wonder if the bibliography is an error or ??? Interestingly, I did see in the bibliography that Unfinished Tales itself was listed as part of the “Other Books By…”

May I ask you to post some more pics of 'Tolkienography'?
The first pic is from the volume Illuminated Manuscripts (a 2021 reprint).
The second one is from Isildur's Bane, about 50 pages with the commentary of T. Honegger on the left page and the pictures on the right page.

I've had this set of HoughtonMifflin 1sts of HoME laying around for ages, and recently decided to dress them up with some slipcases. dunedain had some that have basically been around the world and eventually returned to him. From what he could gather, they were mailed to Austria, got returned and somehow ended up in Canada before coming back to him. Anyway he had them laying around so he sent them my way for a little less.
Does look nice all together.
