So, do these scammers just hijack an account? Every time it looks like a valid seller with a lot of sold listings and positive feedback. But then you dig down and the red flags pop up.
In a nutshell, yes.

Reported this again, like playing whack a mole.
Hopefully everyone here already knows this, but this is not a good way to try and get a copy of the book, if you did send the money to the seller, outside of eBay protection, then it is highly unlikely that you would get the book, but very likely that you will lose your money.
This is the 7th or 8th time this listing has come up, always from a different seller profile. I report every time. But yes, like whack-a-mole. Buyer beware.

I think so, the eBay seller probably gets their eBay account shutdown for trying this.
That’s rather sneaky of the seller. These are the 2022 books of LotR, but not the Hobbit. They haven’t reissued that. They’ve craftily placed the Hobbit slightly askew so it looks as if it’s the same size as the others. The 2022 set is also textured paper and not clothe boards.
There's so many things to wonder about this listing...Price,dust jacket, description, photo display.

That looks like an insta buy if I ever saw one.
