I know it’s fake but it definitely doesn’t look like it was penned on there fifty years ago let alone twenty.

It's a fake, and not a very good one at that...
Tolkien only ever signed one copy of the Puffin paperback Hobbit, for the owner of Penguin (Puffin's owner), Sir Allen Lane.
He later said that if he had looked at the book before signing it, he would not have done so.

So what you’re saying is I need to buy a puffin paperback then pay a professional forger to forge Tolkien’s signature in it and then resell it for 6000% profit?
