I have recently got a set of the 2022 Lord of the Rings hardbacks. These have been discussed on the site, but I think a comparison with the 2013 editions would be useful.
2013 Box-set on left, including the Hobbit and 2022 editions on the right
The 2022 editions are quite a bit smaller than the 2013 editions as you can see in these photos of them next to each other.
The original 2013 books have cloth bindings and the new editions are paper bindings. Apart from the size difference, changes have been made to binding designs, most apparent on The Return of the King.
Finally, Tolkien's facsimile signature is missing from the title-page of the 2022 editions, not sure why and the 2022 copyright page makes no mention of the 2013 editions.
Hobbit and Silmarillion
A collector's edition of The Hobbit and The Silmarillion have both been released in this format.
Perhaps the 2013 editions aren’t mentioned in the 2022 set because they see them as totally separate? They have different ISBNs and the text in the 2022 set is the emended 2014 text whereas the 2013 obviously isn’t.
As you can see from the pictures of my 2022 editions, they easily get damaged, if people do want a set of these I think it may be very difficult to get them in very good condition.
Ooh I see. I must’ve been lucky with the postage, is that how you received yours? But it just shows that it’s a textured paper board rather than cloth of the 2013 set.

Kinda funny that the 2013 box set has been flamed in the past for its poor quality, and these 2022 versions might be worse.
