Thanks Mr. Underhill.
The seller seems like a completely dishonest person and should be avoided!

With this kind of behavior I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same person.
It’s the same dealer.
Yes "Dogfark" is the eBay name where Mark responded to my initial query, and then offered a cheaper price outside of eBay.

It is the same person. Edit: I see already answered by two others!
I want to add that the seller offered a partial refund as a "gesture of goodwill" or another book sent free of charge, with a caveat this time: "I can also do this, send you another title no charge. It will be new, unopened so I can't guarantee its a first printing?"
Interesting how they could not guarantee a first printing for the replacement at that time, but also refused to acknowledge how they misrepresented the 3 books I originally purchased as first prints. The seller clearly has a concept of first prints, but only chooses to recognise this when it is convenient.
As I intended to purchase 3 x first prints, both of their proposed solutions were inadequate.

Well I hope you get your money back as well as keep the books, just to show him.

This goes explicitly against eBay terms and also could be actionable.

If you can show eBay evidence of that you might be able to get his eBay store shut down.

Tbh, I imagine they have made so much money off the back of his sales that this won't be an option. eBay largely cares about Money. I've reported numerous bad listings for various sellers over the years, and I don't think I've ever even had one removed.
