That's looking pretty good for almost 100, like you say!
That Fowler Hobbit is super-sharp as well - not something that gets seen too often.

The only good thing about this thread is the fact that none of you guys can possibly be looking to acquire better copies of these books...
I bought this a few years ago in a used book store for a few dollars. I didn’t need another copy, but I didn’t want it to be ruined by shoppers handling it.

I've probably still got a handful that no one else has shown that would still sneak into the 40 years or older rule. I'll take a couple of extra pics tomorrow.
In the meantime, here are the 1sts of the A&U Deluxe editions
Ah, I've been looking for these on eBay for a while, any printing. But it's very, very hard to find a copy in good condition for a good price. I'm patient, though =)
Vols. I and II, respectively. Yes, I know that these don't scream "good condition", but from my experience they really are "uncommonly good". It's rare to find a set with dust-jackets at all, and even rarer (as in, in my case, never seen) to find them with dust-jackets that aren't missing parts and (strangely) that don't have some water-stains. (I wonder whether a bunch of copies sat in a warehouse that experienced a leak or flooding?)
